Lean Labor
Shift Agent defines Lean Labor in the following way:
Lean Labor:
(n) Maintaining your desired level of customer service with the most efficient investment in labor at every quarter hour.
Achieving Lean Labor is an ongoing challenge. Shift Agent provides several tools that can make the process possible.
- Timeline View (use this to review the day and see if you can make a few 1/4 hour adjustments
- Templates (edit, trim, and reapply next week)
- Guide Bar (watch your savings grow from week to week)
- Productivity Calculator (in the Set Projections window from Scheduling)
We recommend a rhythm of scheduling where you have at least quarterly reviews of the schedule, or some time frame where you can intelligently review how your scheduling templates are reflecting your projections and helping you hit your goals.
Use the timeline view to find and create ways to trim labor and Save new lean templates.
Try your new templates and make sure that the customer service is to your standards. If you have created a leaner schedule and the sales are as good or better than before, then you have TRULY won. These are the types of things you can review in your staff meetings.
